The photos presented here were taken at Kojindani Archaeological Park located in Shimane Prefecture. Seeds of the flowers were found during archaeological digging and whose age, or "sleeping term", was estimated at 2000 to 3000 years by radioactive carbon chronology. But once seeds were casted into the field, they began to sprout and then beautiful lotus were in bloom. So the flower is called "2000 years old lotus" in Japan.
As you might know the lotus is symbolic flower of the Buddhism and we Japanese feel highest nobleness in the flower.
